Delivering cloud solutions to the nation’s favourite savings provider – NS&I
NS&I
National Savings and Investments (NS&I) is an Executive Agency of the Chancellor of the Exchequer. It is one of the UK’s largest retail savings organisations with over 25 million customers, best known for Premium Bonds, but also offering a wide range of other savings products. As it is backed by HM Treasury it offers 100% security on every penny of the over £200 billion currently invested.
As a registered supplier on the Crown Commercial Service’s G-Cloud platform, Techsolve were chosen as the best-fit partner to deliver on NS&I’s requirement to put in place a secure, cloud-hosted, Microsoft 365-based solution to allow collaboration between members of a key strategic project. A key requirement for this project was that the platform needed to operate entirely separately from its existing IT infrastructure.
Taking account of the customer’s needs
We knew that the key to delivering the right cloud solution was to schedule a series of workshops with the NS&I team so that we could ask lots of questions to arrive at a full understanding of their needs and constraints. The outputs from the workshops were a high-level design document, a scope of works and a quote. This provided NS&I with an unambiguous view of what the solution would look like in practice, how we would implement it, what the user experience would be and how much the solution would cost. We committed to delivering our proposed solution within time and budget.

We then got to work implementing our cloud-based solution. We worked closely with the security team to ensure that compliance with the organisation-wide security policies to control the devices and manage the applications available for access by the users. This includes laptop configuration to a standardised build, and proactive monitoring and remediation of the cloud infrastructure.We now deliver a highly effective managed support solution for the growing number of members of NS&I’s key strategic project. The service we provide also includes:
- management, administration, and cloud backup of the Microsoft services
- multi-tiered security including data loss prevention measures
- endpoint protection
- device-level two-factor authentication (restricting each device to only allow login by a specified individual).
