Cybersecurity is a serious issue
"More than half (54%) of SMEs in the UK had experienced some form of cyber-attack in 2022."
-
18% of SMEs said their business was not protected with cybersecurity software.
-
Almost 1-in-5 (19%) of SMEs polled said that an average cyber-attack could cost their business up to £4,200.
-
One third (33%) of SMEs had seen the number of attempted cyber-attacks against their business increase.
But cybercriminals won't target my business, right?
Wrong! In fact, a recent article by Forbes reported that small businesses are three times more likely to be targeted by cybercriminals than larger organisations.
Small businesses with fewer than 100 employees will experience an average of 350% more social engineering attacks (e.g. phishing and smishing) on their employees than at larger companies.
Pretty scary, huh?
We can help your business avoid becoming another statistic
Get the basics right. Shore up your defences
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) identified five core pillars that businesses of any size should implement to reduce their chances of falling victim to cybercrime:
Firewalls
The device or software that controls who or what from the outside can access your systems, and what sites your staff can visit.
Secure Configuration
Configure your computers and network devices to reduce vulnerabilities and only provide necessary services.
User Access Controls
User accounts must be managed effectively, and provide the minimum level of access to applications, computers and networks. E.g. make sure users don't have admin-level rights for day to day work.
Malware protection
Protecting against a broad range of malware will protect your computer, your privacy and your important documents from attack.
Patch Management
Updating software and operating systems helps to fix known weaknesses, stopping criminal hackers from exploiting them.

Dashboard and Security Score
Here, you can manage your cyber security at a glance. The Security Smart Score tells you how your company is performing at any given time, with a score out of 100. If the score is less than 100, the dashboard shows priority areas to improve it, with quick summary information as well as links to dive right into the detail of the individual devices, where help with remediation is available if needed. You can view the security status of all devices, enable training for staff via the Cyber Academy, and publish company security policies. All of which can be accessed by your staff.
Active Protect app
Active Protect checks devices for best security practices, such as having the most up-to-date version of the operating system and checking for cyber tools such as firewall and anti-virus and their latest updates. If a problem is found, the user is alerted and given instructions on how to fix it themselves. This is reported back to the company dashboard. Employees can read company cyber security policies and procedures and be trained in the best cyber security practices via the Cyber Academy. The app is available on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. The app is a helping hand. It cannot access employee data, it’s only checking that the best security is in place.
